Hey everyone, thanks to all of you have been praying already. It means a LOT to my family and I.
Well...my grandfather was rushed into the hosptial last evening (tuesday), after no one could get ahold of him via the phone, and then drove out to Selkirk to find his hands and face turning blue. They ran tests all day today (wednesday) and figured that he was experiencing side effects from an aneurysm surgery he had 2 years ago (almost to date). While they were preparing him for surgery early this evening he coughed up fluid which, then got into his lungs. It took them at least an hour to stabilize him, and get him into surgery to have a closer look at what was going on. After nearly 4 hrs of surgery the doc came out and explained to us that 3/4 of is small intestine had died, and the 15% of a kidney that he still had functioning was also dead. Thus we were given the option of a) close him up and let him pass on, or b) attempt to remove the dead intestine and might live, and hopefully the damage done to his other organs will reverse itself. Well thanks to my Grandpa's last words before he took a turn for the worse, and after 2 years of kidney problems, he agreed to short term dialysis.....therefore, it was agreed to proceed with the surgery.
So now, another 4 hours later (a total of 8hrs in surgery, and the removal taking an hour longer than anticipated) he's out of surgery but still in VERY critical condition. The next 6 hours (2-8am) are the most critical.....but overall the nxt 48hrs are critical...it's in that time that we'll learn if his body will adjust, or if he'll simply pass on.
So PLEASE, PLEASE pray for my family!!!!! My grandmother passed away 2 yrs and 4 days ago. And so far the circumstances (surgery,etc...) are looking all too similar. My grandfather is stuborn, but we also realize that all human life has an end. I don't want to see him go yet. The last 2 years have been the best years that I've ever had with any of my grandparents. And while he is extremely stuborn, I still have SOOOOOOOOO much to learn from him.
anyways....here ends my plea....it's 230 am now....and unless we hear otherwise, we'll be back at the hospital in another 5-6 hrs.
Thanks, and God Bless!
